BlueVector has considerable technical and commercial expertise in biopolymer-based products, particularly that of hyaluronan and chitosan. Hyaluronan (hyaluronic acid) is an unusually versatile natural biomaterial, and is used in a broad spectrum of medical and cosmetic applications, for example ophthalmology, osteoarthritis, dermatology, wound healing, drug delivery, post-surgical adhesion prevention and tissue engineering.

Hyaluronan, a long-chain linear polysaccharide, is widely distributed throughout the body and has significant physiological importance. This biodegradable molecule is immunologically biocompatible, and its intrinsic viscoelastic, biological and hydrophilic properties confer huge clinical potential, in either its native state or in a chemically modified form.

We have experience of taking biopolymer-based medical devices through the entire R&D process and on to the market, including product specification based on end-user requirements, biocompatibility and stability testing, clinical trials, CE-marking, and manufacturing.
